The HuSArctic project ended in December 2018, and the contents of the website will not recieve further updates.
However, until further notice the website will stay online, so the project’s activities and outcomes remain accessible.
The article explores the possibility to integrate human rights impact assessment in the licensing processes of development projects within the Sápmi region.
The article “Resource Development and Sámi Rights in the Sápmi Region: Integrating Human Rights Impact Assessment in Licensing Processes” by Kamrul Hossain and Anna Petrétei was published in the Nordic Journal of International Law.
HuSArctic researchers Kamrul Hossain, Mike Sheehan and Gerald Zojer participated in a seminar related to cybersecurity and its interrelations to human security with a regional focus on the European High North. The one-day seminar took place in London on 18 September 2017.
The HuSArctic lead Prof. Hossain has given a talk at the seminar on “Human security in the Arctic” organized jointly by the Finnish Institute of International Affairs (FIIA) and the Arctic Centre of the University of Lapland.
New academic book by Gerald Zojer and Kamrul Hossain introduces episodic and empirical evidence addressing the multifaceted aspects of human security in the Barents Region and looks at the prevalent challenges to the maintenance of societal security.
In November HuSArctic researcher Kamrul Hossain visited the 3rd International Academic Confernce on Human Security.
