  • The HuSArctic lead, Director of the Northern Institute for Environmental and Minority Law (NIEM), Prof. Kamrul Hossain has given a talk at the 3rd International Conference on Sustainable Development (ICSD) held at the International University of Sarajevo, Bosnia from 19-23 April, 2017. Around eighty academic scientific papers have been presented in the Conference.


  • More than 15 different nationalities represented, with young researchers and scholars coming from all over the world to discuss Arctic-related issues. This has been the exceptional outcome of the 3 days International Conference on Human Security in the Barents Region, organized by the HuS Arctic research group in three different location (Rovaniemi, Enontekiö and Kautokeino).

  • HuSArctic lead Prof. Kamrul Hossain has given a talk at the International Conference on Envisioning our Common Future held at the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh from 22-23 December 2016. Renowned scholars from home and abroad have brought new ideas to mitigate common challenges that affect the globe at large. The conference has been motivated to build a knowledge-based society by which scientific information on societal challenges are shared and subsequently tackled in a pro-active manner based on possible visionary approaches.   • On 11 December 2016, Prof. Kamrul Hossain has given a talk as part of Sámi-Ainu Joint seminar at the L-Plaza meeting room in Sapporo, Japan. The title of the talk was: Indigenous peoples and enhancement of capacity building for the promotion of human security. In his talk, Prof. Hossain highlighted the need for developing alternative approach from the indigenous peoples themselves to promote a better understanding concerning issues that affect them.

    Today we published the second issue of the HuSArctic newsletter. It provides a brief overview over some of the activities that have been carried out in 2016, it introduces some new project related publications, and also some new project members and collaborators.
