An executive summary from the final HuSArctic conference, in Helsinki (October 23-27, 2018) is now available in English, Finnish, Norwegian, North Sami, Russian, and Swedish.

HuSArctic researcher were well presented at the ECoHuCy conference in Rovaniemi on May 24 and 25. The ECoHuCy project (“Enablement besides Constraints: Human Security and a Cyber Multi-disciplinary Framework in the European High North”) focuses on the interrelations of human security and cybersecurity, with a regional focus on the European High North.


On 20 September 2017, Dr Dorothée Cambou presented her research project about the impacts of renewable energy on the rights of indigenous peoples at Arctic Energy Summit. The panel session was organised by the Ministry of Environment of Finland. The conference was held in September 18-20, 2017 in Helsinki, Finland. The Summit is a multi-disciplinary event, which gathered several hundred industry officials, scientists, academics, policy makers, energy professionals and community leaders together to collaborate and share leading approaches on Arctic energy issues.

In November HuSArctic researcher Kamrul Hossain visited the 3rd International Academic Confernce on Human Security.

Researcher Gerald Zojer represented HuSArctic at the Conference “Petrocultures 2016: The Offshore”, in St. john's, Newfoundland (CAN). His presentation was titled: The Role of Hydrocarbon Development in Arctic Governance and its Interplay with Human Development in the Region.

HuSArctic project organizes an international conference on Human and Societal Security in the Circumpolar Arctic in March 25-28, 2017 in Enontekiö, Finland and Kautokeino, Norway. The specific focus of the conference is on the Barents region and its environment, sustainability and development.

On September 21, 2015, Dr. Kamrul Hossain has given another talk held at the Ainu Centre located in Sapporo, Japan. The tile of the talk was "International Human Rights Law with Focus on Indigenous Peoples: A look for the promotion of the Ainu rights". It was organized by the Sapporo Ainu Association.

On September 18, 2015 Dr. Kamrul Hossain has given a guest lecture at the newly established Arctic Research Centre at the Hokkaido University. The title of his talk was “Governance of the Arctic: What future do we see?”
